As time goes by, Community seems to only get more and more popular, with many fans eagerly awaiting the long-rumored movie. With creator Dan Harmon recently confirming the project has been outlined and pitched (per Variety), one of the biggest questions that remains is which members of the infamous study group (also known as The Greendale ) will make an appearance.

The motley crew of lovable oddballs provided the heart of the show, delivering its incredible wit and abstract humor for six seasons. Naturally as with any long-running show, there have been numerous memes to accurately portray the lovable group.

This clever meme describes how each member of the study group would act with NFTs, separating them by if they know what they are and if they are investing in them.

The categorization of each character makes a lot of sense based on what fans know and love about the study group. After all, Jeff does act like he knows more than everyone and Pierce tries to act like Jeff, often without the real knowledge to back it up. A lot of the others are not personality types to invest in NFTs.

Alignment For The Cast

There’s a trend online to align fan-favorite characters with their D&D alignment. For Community, there are plenty of charts where fans have made their picks for who is good, neutral, and evil.

The top row is three that tend to want to or end up helping others and showing good nature throughout the show. The neutral ones waver, whether it be moments of selfishness or selflessness, while the bottom three are all evil in their own ways. While saying The Dean is truly evil may be a stretch for many fans, the OP Anjanae justifies their choice by saying “The “evil” I see in him at all is more just selfishness, like his manipulation with the whole history class to get Jeff to stay.”

Pierce And His Attention Seeking

Pierce Hawthorne was a wonderfully written character. While Chevy Chase may have had issues with aspects of the character, he was still able to portray Pierce in a way that made him one of the most memorable characters. In one of the best Community episodes, “Remedial Chaos Theory,” he constantly talks about his alleged fling with Eartha Kitt as a way to get the group’s attention, although it does not impress them.

This meme takes a popular format of a lone person standing at the corner of a party, wanting to tell the party goers a personal anecdote. It perfectly reflects Pierce’s behavior in the season 3 episode, as every time he tried to say the story in the alternate timelines, it ended up getting no reaction. Pierce always found an absurd way to bring it up though, getting more creative as the timelines continued.

Noted People’s Person Abed

Abed was not one known for his social skills. Often looking at the world through a movie lens, he frequently acknowledges his struggles in social situations. So his relationship with Troy became very powerful, hurting audiences when Troy left in season 5. Soon after, Abed says this line when referring to new friends he made through the MeowMeowBeenz app.

This meme is a highly relatable one that captures what Abed’s existence is like at this point in the series. Now he is not with the people he grew to love and trust and is instead with a whole new group of strangers. This, of course, leads to him having to find new people much like someone who moves out and starts working would have to.

Goofy Chaos

Britta may be the more chaotic one, but Troy had his moments as well. Like when he wanted to do the opposite of Annie for an entire episode in season 4. His whole purpose was to do the opposite of what Annie was saying, sort of like how that one dentist seems to want to do the opposite of everyone else in commercials.

Both Troy and that unnamed dentist do have this in common, they enjoy being a contrarian. Troy was only doing this, so there was an opposing view, much like the dentist did. It held things up, but it did end up being rather entertaining.

Homework In The Group

Outside of dioramas, the study group is not actually seen doing their homework often in the series. However, given they attend a community college, it stands to reason that there was plenty of homework for them to do – which leads fans to think about how the group would respond to the task.

Luckily, this meme gives a good idea. Jeff obviously would not want to do any of it himself, opting to ask to copy someone else’s, while Annie and Shirley would go out of their way to help him. Abed is known for going with the flow, so would likely agree to Jeff copying his work. Britta and Troy are usually disorganized, making both of them likely candidates to not do their work, while everyone else would likely say no or ignore Jeff’s request altogether.

The Old Winger Speech

One of the greatest running gags in Community is Jeff’s speeches to the group. A take on a trope used in shows like Full House, Jeff adds his level of cocky charm and helps elevate these scenes above simple stereotypes. Often meant to establish lessons for the characters, Jeff gave the speeches enough that it got called out multiple times by Abed. Of course, Winger also famously had daddy issues and an undying need for love and attention.

This meme helps show some reasoning behind the Winger speeches. He gives them because he cares and feels like he needs to be front and center for the group to care about him. In return, he wants all the love and attention he believes he earned from it, helping establish the tragedy of his complex narrative and why Jeff could never leave Greendale.

“…And A Movie”

Ever since the “six seasons and a movie” line was said by Abed in season 3, it has become synonymous with the show, which did end up lasting six seasons. Of course, fans have believed the movie will happen since the end of the show, even in times when there has been no news or real indication it would.

Piggybacking off of that, Troy also falsely believed in a fake reality where he could go into a cartoon only to be reminded that that was not possible. Troy is a lot like the fans of the show, as he simply wants to experience what is not real, also shown in “Abed’s Uncontrollable Christmas.”

Fourth Wall Broken… Again

Abed sees everything through movies, often breaking the fourth wall in creative ways. With the Russo brothers putting in some of their best work on both Community and the MCU, this has led to many familiar faces from Community appearing in cameos or the case of Donald Glover, supporting roles.

Since we know that DC properties like Batman exist in the Community universe, there’s every chance the MCU might too, and seeing familiar faces on screen would be horrifying for Abed. If daylight savings time is enough to freak him out, an actual movie doppelganger would send him into a full-fledged meltdown.​​​​​​​

The Britta-ing of Britta

Regardless of opinions on which season of Community was the best, everyone agrees that Britta was a far different character in season 1 than she was in season 6. Once portrayed as a headstrong and confident woman, Britta was often used for goofy comedic relief as time went on, albeit still with a big heart who wants to help everyone around her.

This meme shows the differences in Britta across the seasons, as she was shown to have much less outward self-confidence and intelligence in later seasons. While she may no longer be the strong woman she portrayed in the beginning, she was still an integral part of the group and found new, more sincere strength through them.
