I’ve compiled a list of advice from my friends. These are real people raising kids today, that have real advice for new parents. This isn’t advice from fancy doctors or meant to tell you exactly how to raise your kids. I think it’s even better. It is just an honest list meant to help new parents navigate the wonderful world of parenting. Enjoy…

“Get lots of sleep before the baby comes. Take lots of pictures- they grow so fast! Breastfeeding takes patience, but it is so worth it. Don’t buy everything new. Cherish all of the fun times- you will forget the hard days.”

“Find a babysitter that you love and trust early on- even before the baby comes. Getting out as a couple or with friends is often needed to recharge your own batteries.”

“Do not judge other parents (and their parenting styles) and their kids. You have no idea what goes on in their life. Also, make sure you keep your other identities in life- as wife, friend, employee, etc.”

“Be available as much as possible. Cherish every moment, time flies. Go with your gut and do what works for your family. When everyone gives you advice or tells you what book or method to use, smile and say thanks, then do what feels natural. Love your child no matter what. Don’t’ forget your spouse, you have to put forth more effort now than ever before/”
